Another fun fact about octopi: In previous scientific studies they didn’t react much to images shown on TV. However, a recent study showed that they do—the difference being that images were shown on HDTV as opposed to cathode ray tubes. Apparently the old 24-per-second film images on regular TV are too slow and “incoherent” to these guys’ highly-sensitive eyes! (New Scientist article)
