A short film Le Building (QuickTime; Warning: some very brief, cartoon nudity) by five students at the Gobelins animation school in Paris, France. The film is a crazy-quilt mixture of 2D, 3D and Flash animation (depending on each student’s speciality), and unlike some student works, is stylish, snappy and very funny.

It’s even funnier if you go through the movie frame-by-frame: The character and scenic designs are fabulous. Check out the background around the shower singer!
Wonderful!
Blooshna!
There’s amazing CG animation being done these days, but it’s all being done on hidden gems of student projects like this one (and this one http://www.silencegreys.com/neko/3d.htm , a friend’s page; check out ‘These Borrowed Eyes’… )and commercials (like Dragon) that sometimes so floor me that I forget about the product – but that part’s okay.
I forgot to add (because my computer at the library was acting up) that there are some ugly half-hour cartoons out there, (and I don’t mean ‘Growing Up Gotti’) like Odd Job Jack that just look bad and aren’t pleasing to watch. They make jerky anime a joy to watch and it usually gives me a headache. There’s some good ideas for the design of a show out there, but the show seldom lives up to it.
