I really like the movie Tangled. I have seen it twice. My favourite part of the movie is the part where Flynn takes Rapunzel to see the floating lanterns. When the lanterns started to light up they played the song “I See The Light.” I love that song. I’ve got it on my iTunes right now. I also like the song “Something That I Want.” This song is at the end of the movie Tangled, when they play the credits.

(Jon loves this movie. It was probably the first movie he’s reacted emotionally to (during a sad part, too, will wonders never cease!). P and L highly recommend it, too. Ignore the trailers you’ve seen; they’re awful.—L)

Yesterday was a good day. After school I saw Frieda from Bloorview. I did a big workout with Frieda. I was pushing my wheelchair. When I’m going up a hill I lean forward and I use quick hands. When I’m going down a hill I lean back and I squeeze the chicken and I slow myself down. When I take a break in my wheelchair I go sideways and I hold on to my wheels. My workout was great. I got tired from all that workout.

(Some explanations: Frieda is an occupational therapist at Holland Bloorview who Jon has been doing wheelchair training sessions with. (Oddly enough, even after years of going to school in a wheelchair Jon’s never been formally trained how to deal with slopes.) “Quick hands” is pushing very quickly, with short, sharp pushes, on the wheel rims. “Squeezing the chicken” is a demonstration technique Frieda used with Jon of squeezing a rubber toy chicken with only a little pressure. In a wheelchair that would translate into putting enough hand pressure on the rims to slow the chair down but not stop it completely. Tricky stuff.—L)

I had a great weekend. It was the morning. On Sunday morning I had breakfast. For breakfast I had cereal. I had Cheerios in my cereal. After breakfast I brushed my teeth. I did Wii. I also did computer. I ripped some songs in Wire Tap Studio. I put the songs on my iPod shuffle. I listened to Weather Newtwork music in the car. I went to Virginia’s building. Daddy was driving me there. Virginia’s building was on the 11^th floor. I had dinner. For dinner I had jerk chicken with rice and salad. After dinner I watched my video. I was watching Super Why. I had a great time at Virginia’s.

(We always encourage Jon to buy real songs off iTunes, or rip songs off CDs we already own. The ripping he’s talking about here is recording the audio of old Weather Network local forecasts on YouTube, using a Mac program called Wire Tap Studio. Over the weeks Jon has, all by himself, amassed a collection of 30 or 40 of these Weather Network recordings.

BTW: We DO see other friends other than Virginia; she’s the only one Jon ever seems to mention in his journals!—L)

I had a great weekend. My friend, Virginia came over for dinner. I showed Virginia the Millionaire game. I didn’t show Virginia the YouTube weather. I had dinner. For dinner, I had lemon chicken. After dinner I had dessert. For dessert I had ice cream. After dessert Daddy watched the Oscars. The Oscars were boring. I can’t watch it. I had a great time with Virginia.

Nov. 14 2009

Daddy drove me to the Royal Winter Fair. We took the elevator from the parking lot. I saw some farm animals. I saw cows, horses, sheep and pigs. I had a back bacon sandwich for lunch. Later I had chocolate Ice cream on a cone and an apple dumpling. Just before we left the fair I bought a piece of chocolate nut fudge. I had a good time at the fair.
