Here is a video of me Krumping with my teacher. Krumping is a type of dance where you move your arms to rhythmic music.

Aladdin
On Tuesday December 10th we went to the stage show of Aladdin. Just like the movie it started with the song Arabian Nights, but unlike the movie there were three men singing it, throughout the musical, to help the plot.
It had a lot of the same songs that are in the movie like One Jump Ahead, Friend like me, and Prince Ali, which were big song and dance numbers. It also had new songs like Proud Of Your Boy and a new song sung by Jasmine that they were trying for the first time that night.
My favourite song was A Whole New World in the second act. As the song started the actors floated on a magic carpet into the stars and planets.
I really enjoyed Aladdin and a big thanks to Grandma for the tickets.

Merrywood 2013
I had another great session at Camp Merrywood. I went kayaking. I got wet in the water. During the ride I heard a Carly Rae Jepsen song. The song is Call Me Maybe.
At arts and crafts I made star jars which are jars lined with foil. When you shine a light in holes in the foil you get stars. I also made light sabers with Jackie. I like that.
I went on the overnight camping trip again. I really enjoyed it, especially the locks.
I saw a rainbow on day 7.
I went to the media program with Sam and made sock puppets. I performed a song for the sock puppet. As I was singing the song I recorded it. The song was about saying thank you and staying in touch.
Again this year, I told five funny jokes at the talent show on day 9.
We had the goodbye banquet on the last day.
It was another really good session this year at Camp Merrywood.

My great time at Camp Merrywood
(Jon wrote this post only a couple of days after he got back from Merrywood, but the camp forgot to pack his camera and had to mail it out! We just got it developed yesterday. —L)

Doing arts & crafts
This summer I had another great session at Camp Merrywood. I did archery and crafts. I also went on an overnight camping trip through two locks. The overnight camp has a sandy beach called Miami Beach, which reminded me of two Looney Tunes cartoons. We never had a campfire because it was too dry. I also went to the pool and tried scuba* for the first time.

Jon doing scuba!
One day I went white-water rafting with Cassandra, one of my camp counsellors. I got wet! I liked the rapids very much. During the trip I heard two songs from my camp counsellor, Katherine. The two songs were “Both of Us”, featuring Taylor Swift, and “There She Goes”. I had so much fun!

I saw a rainbow on day 8. It was very nice. I told the camp counsellors that there’s a Sid the Science Kid episode about rainbows. I named all seven colours that a rainbow has.
I had a talent show on day 9, where I told five funny jokes. On our last night we had our good-bye banquet. It was fun. Katelin, who does media, put on an amazing slideshow with lots of camp photos. Afterwards, there was a dance. I danced with Rebecca. She said her favourite song was, “What makes you so beautiful?” That was it for camp for this session.

* When Jon first told us he did scuba, I’m ashamed to admit that we didn’t believe him, assuming that it was just the camp counsellors’ colloquial way of saying he went snorkelling. It wasn’t until we got the pics back from the photofinisher that we realized that it was honest-to-goodness scuba! Sorry, Jon! ↩
This just in: video of the rafting! I’ve cut it down to feature just Jon’s raft (there were two) and one Ottawa rapid (Hair), but wow! What great times they were having!
Letter to Tamiko
Dear Tamiko
Thank you for letting me show you my mash-ups. I talked to you a lot. It was nice talking to you. Thank you for taking us to Sher-E Punjab. That dinner was good and I love Indian food. I didn’t see Chess with you, but, I like seeing the songs on the Apple TV. I hope you come visit again soon.
Love Jon
The Science Centre
9/6/2011
I had a good time at The Science Centre. First, I saw a film Under The Sea. Then, Daddy and I ate lunch. I had a hot dog and some french fries. After lunch we went to the Human Body show to look at the skeleton bones. I then went to the shadow room. In the shadow room there was a flash of light, and then I saw my shadow. This made me very happy.

Not a Van de Graaff generator.
After the shadow room I saw a video with ants in it. It was fun. Then we rode on the elevator to get back to the entrance. I love the Science Centre and I had a great time there.
Jon
(Jon didn’t mention this in his post, but the Science Centre had an “Amazing Aging Machine” that would age kids on the computer. It was a little tough for Jon, since he couldn’t hold his head in the right position easily, and his eyes were closed, but it came up with quite a mug shot! —L)

Young Jon, meet “older” Jon?
My 10 Days At Camp
8/10/2011
I had a great 10 days at camp. Camp started on the 31st of July, which was a Sunday. On day 2 I went on an overnight camping trip where we canoed through the locks. I swam in a lock and touched the moss on the side. I slept in a sleeping bag in a tent.

Hanging out in the lock
When I got back to Camp Merrywood I joined the Weather Network Club where I made windmills. Later we did a Lady Gaga show where we dressed up as monsters. My cabin, Moose cabin, did one of her songs, “Poker Face.”

Jon the weatherman and his weather chart. Alas, no pictures of Gaga night.
At Life Skills I did some sand art. I glued coloured sand onto paper. Later that week I had Spa Day. I got a hand massage and had nail polish put on! One day I went swimming in the swimming pool.

On day 9 we had a talent show. Some people danced and other people sang. I sang the “Repeat After Me” song from Sid The Science Kid.

Jon informs us that this picture is from their Quidditch game. Yes, apparently they had broomsticks.
On the last evening we had a banquet dinner. I ate roast beef and potatoes. Afterward we watched a slideshow and then danced. The next morning Daddy came to pick me up. My 10 days at Camp were fun!
