April 16/08
On Monday my mom and dad drove me to the orthodontist. I was waiting for the doctor for a long time. I listened to the iPod at the orthodontist. Then when he came to the office he put me in a dentist chair. I was there for a while. I had a great time. We went back in the car to go home.

I love how Jon is catching himself even in the first draft: in the third sentence, he slides into his old favorite past perfect tense, but then switches back to past tense. His teacher reports that when she sits down to edit with him, he often starts to analyze the piece himself. “Wait, that’s repetition,” he said as he then spontaneously cut a section out in front of her. -P]
Reptila
I went to Reptila on a big bus. When I got there I saw some reptiles. I was seeing the frogs And I saw the snakes. I also saw the lizards and I saw some turtles. After seeing the reptiles it was time for lunch. I had lemon chicken. I watched them feed the crocodiles After Lunch we went back on the big bus to go to school.

Reptilia
I went to Reptilia on a big bus. When I got there I saw some reptiles and amphibians. I saw frogs snakes, lizards, turtles, crocodiles, alligators, and some fish. Then it was time for lunch. I had lemon chicken and noodles. After lunch I watched them feed the crocodiles. I had a great time. Then we went back on the big bus to go to school.

I watched Méteo Média on TV. On Méteo Média I saw Prévision Local witch is French for Local Forecast. I like to watch the highway conditions in French. The French word for the highway conditions is conditions Routiers. I saw Prevision international witch is French for international Forecast

(Jon usually knows how to spell “which”, but he was in an extremely high state of excitement since we had just added the French version of the Weather Network to our cable that day. We’ll see if it outlasts the free 3-month trial period—$7 a month for the French package is a bit steep just so that Jon can enjoy one channel. Though he is learning some French words as well as learning how to do accent marks on the computer keyboard; that’s worth something! —L)

I started off with Super Mario Galaxy and I had to use the nunchuk. And after Super Mario Galaxy Mommy switched to Wii Sports. In Wii Sports I did my Wii Fitness test. My Fitness results were 70.
That was a pretty good score.

Feb. 28/08
Yesterday we had a Lockdown Drill. It happened right after lunch. I was on my way to the Adventure Centre to play. We had to go to the closest area. We went to the religion room until the principal made an announcement and said that the Lockdown Drill was over. I had a great day at school.

I went to chelsea in Ottawa. At chelsea they don’t have the weather Network. They just have CBC channels. I went lugeing. Paul watched the movie Ratatouille. But Jaimy and Willa didn’t watch a short it is called Lifted. I like to have some dinner. After dinner I watched a DVD. The DVD I was watching at chelsea is The Wonder Pets.

Tonight I’m going to watch save the dragon episode of Wonder Pets. The dragon is from a madgical land.
Feb. 11/08
On Sunday we had visiters who stayed for dinner. Susan and Ian broght Igby over. Igby’s fur is black and a little bit white. She is the same size as Photon. She has lots of fur and it’s very soft. I enjoyed petting her and she played with Photon too. Susan and Ian stayed for a long time. I enjoyed having them over. I hope they come over again soon.

After supper I watched The Wonder Pets. I saw save the owl episode. It was fun to watch.
(Igby is actually a Yorkshire terrier, so he’s brown, tiny and not so soft. But he and Photon definitely did play a lot. Because Jon’s journals always had these video non sequiturs at the end, we suggested he do a separate little bit about this after the main journal entry. Hence the “video preview section”. —L)
